Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger

The Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger is a simple, old school analog gold hunting metal detector. No fancy display just some tones and threshold to go by. Kind of like driving a VW Beetle. Set it up, keep adjusting as you hunt for optimum performance and it will be your little buddy on every nugget hunt.

It incorporates a 15Khz frequency for sensitivity to small gold nuggets. It will easily pick up .1 gram nuggets and a bit smaller with its optional 3” x 7” DD coil. The Scorpion is a great bedrock sniping detector for picking out those tiny nuggets stuck in bedrock cracks.

That is where I usually find my nuggets when using the Garrett Scorpion.

Once you get use it to it, ground balancing in a breeze but must be done fairly frequently as you hunt because the ground changes and you don’t want to miss any small nuggets by being out of ground balance.

The coils are waterproof for hunting in creeks to find placer gold by searching for black sand deposits with using the threshold in a way that will signal black sand. The threshold on the Scorpion will go negative when hitting a pocket of black sand depending on you set it up correctly for this. If you find these deposits, it’s a good place to start mining.
